Your life can either be run by you or run right over you. Do you have control of your life? Are you healthy, happy, and stress free? If not, it could be a sign that your life does not have balance. When it comes to life the word balance is synonymous with the word control. When your work life and personal life are out of balance your stress level is likely to soar. It will then eventually work its way straight to the bottom line of your physical health. For example, you know how you feel when things are unbalanced or out of whack: you start running around, giving everything ounce of energy you have with out getting anything in return. Of course, you then catch a cold. I am going to point out some simple ways to gain control in every aspect of your life therefore creating a balanced, harmonious lifestyle.
Lets start with your work life balance.
1.You must avoid procrastination and manage your time. Most people struggle with this which leads them right into a life of disorganization. Set goals and deadlines and stick to them.
2.Take charge, set priorities and write a list! It is much easier to get overwhelmed and stressed when all of your tasks are just thoughts swirling around in your head.
3.Finally, make sure you slow down at times. Take enough breaks and don’t ever overwork. You end up wearing thin and compromising the quality of your work.
Managing your social life is just as important.
Balance in your life depends on the choices you make through out your days. You have the ability to control how you spend your time. You don’t need to fill your schedule up every weekend. Consider down time as important as your social time. Learn to say “no” to people and just like at work prioritize what is most important to you and who is worth your time.
Another crucial element to balance is food.
We as a society make our relationship with food so complicated. We put so much energy into dieting and trying to get our bodies to respond that we get overwhelmed when we fail to see results. A balanced diet of foods that nourish your brain and body will provide you with a strong and healthy lifestyle. Research nutritious foods that you enjoy, eat in moderation, and don’t put any more thoughts or energy into it!
Finally exercise!
Find time for your self to walk, run, or be involved in some form of exercise. This is very important not only because of the obvious physical health reasons but mostly for your state of mind. It is a time to be by yourself in your own thoughts so you can reflect and plan for your day ahead. You will also benefit from the effects of the body’s own mood elevating endorphins. Your natural high will tackle depression and mood swings, keeping your mind focused.
